TOBACCO’s New Track “Slaughtered By The Amway Guy” Is An Electronic Punk Jolt
The B-sides compilation Ripe and Majestic is out August 25.
Thomas Fec's TOBACCO project is not unlike a barrel of radioactive goo. They both have an inviting glow, but threaten irrevocable change if you submerge yourself for too long. The demented and dancey electronic productions are safeguarded from imitators with a well-honed, almost B-movie schlockiness that's on display on TOBACCO's new track "Slaughtered By The Amway Guy," premiering today on The FADER. Taken from Ripe and Majestic, an upcoming compilation of rare TOBACCO music, "Amway Guy" balances jet-fuelled punk with space-age synths that yawn and whine.
Reached over email, TOBACCO described his music as he imagined someone else might: "Were you to ask a seasoned writer to describe what being on acid with weed is like, they could only reply 'Look up *acid* in the dictionary, friend… next to that you will find a picture of the artist TOBACCO...”
Ripe and Majestic is out August 25 via Rad Cult. Preorder it here. On July 19, TOBACCO will open for Nine Inch Nails in Bakerfield, California, the band's first show in three years. Check out more upcoming shows below.
