Watch Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Tom Hanks Announce 2020 Presidential Bid In SNL Monologue
What started off as a Twitter joke has become a real possibility.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson first jokingly mentioned running for president in a tweet from March 2016. More recently, GQ published a cover story on Johnson in which he discussed the potential of running for president again. A poll was published that showed Johnson leading Trump by a large margin were he to actually run for president.
Saturday night, Johnson brought the possibility up again during his SNL monologue for the show's season 42 finale, this time with Tom Hanks as his vice president. The two make a very convincing case for why they'd be a good pair in office. In one bit, Johnson cites his experience starring in action movies as a valuable trait during national crises: "Damn it, if I don't get down to that fault line and detonate the war head the entire state is going to sink. Fuel up the submarine and tell the Secret Service to pack my trunks. The president is going for a swim." Watch above.
