Blac Youngsta’s Attorney Reveals New Details In Young Dolph Shooting
Youngsta has maintained his innocence.
An attorney for Blac Youngsta has shed new light on the charges the Memphis rapper faces. Youngsta turned himself in to Charlotte police yesterday, and is accused in a February shooting targeting Young Dolph, a rival rapper. Dolph was unharmed in the shooting, reportedly thanks to a $300,000 bulletproof SUV.
A FOX affiliate in Memphis aired some new details in the case last night. Watch the news segment above via HotNewHipHop. According to the report, an attorney for Blac Youngsta (real name Sammie Marquez Benson) claimed that the rapper turned himself in because police had found a van rented under his name that had been used in the shooting. Benson's attorney claims that the vehicle was stolen before the gunfight occurred.
Youngsta has charged along with two associates, Frederick Black and Antavius Gardner. Each face six felony counts of discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling/occupied vehicle and one felony conspiracy charge, according to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office's website. Youngsta told the TV cameras "I'm innocent" as he approached the police station yesterday.
Representatives for Young Dolph and Blac Youngsta were not immediately available for comment.
