TLC’s Chili Receives Backlash For Saying “All Lives Matter”
Twitter shut her down immediately.
Chilli from TLC caught flak on Wednesday for going on television and saying "all lives matter." The rapper went on Channel 4 News in the U.K. to promote TLC's upcoming self-titled record alongside her rap partner T-Boz, and casually dropped in the phrase during a question about the Black Lives Matter movement.
“I personally didn’t go into any marches, or anything like that, but for me, all lives matter, you know what I mean?” she said.
Chilli continued, saying, “Because there is a time when different groups are targeted for different things, you know what I’m saying? So, I just think that, just the whole—what happened, police brutality, against these young black boys, all of that kind of stuff is wrong, even if it was a Caucasian teen kid that this was happening to or whatever.”
TLC fans did not take the rapper's comments lightly, and many took to Twitter to share their disappointment with Chilli.
After Chilli's comments, T-Boz gave her two cents about Donald Trump after the reporter asked how the rappers felt about living under the Trump administration.
"I don’t care about Donald Trump, so, I mean, God is my president,” she said. “I just feel sorry for the people it affects, but I don’t care about him.”
