Drake’s “One Dance” Surpasses One Billion Streams on Spotify
The rapper breaks yet another record.
Drake's "One Dance" has been the first song on Spotify to reach one billion streams, according to a report from Bilboard on Friday. As of 4:32 p.m. EST today, it's sitting pretty at 1.003 billion plays on the streaming platform.
Earlier this year, "One Dance" passed Major Lazer's "Lean On" for the most total streams ever on Spotify.
This record comes after reports that Drake was the most streamed artist on Spotify in 2016 with 4.7 billion streams this year, a figure that more than doubles his total of 1.8 billion streams last year. This was largely due to the wildly popular VIEWS which was Spotify's most streamed album of the year, and was one that went platinum four times over.
And although The Weeknd may have passed Drake's record of most monthly streams with Starboy, Drake still holds the title of being the most streamed artist on Spotify ever with over eight billion streams.
