Experience Emotions From Alternate Realities In The Mozart’s Sister Video For “Angel”
The track from the b-side of Eternally Girl now has an enthralling video.
Mozart's Sister is deliberately enticing in the new video for “Angel,” premiering today on The FADER. Caila Thompson-Hannant, brings the alt-pop track from her forthcoming album Field of Love to life in a video that follows the Montreal artist across a multitude of stirring landscapes. She flits through forests, rests stoically in front of waterfalls, and looks coyly into camera — this is a woman grappling with different sides of herself. The song moves from bubbling synth to heavy reverb and distorted noises, mirroring Thompson-Hannant’s changing demeanor.
“We chose to explore the idea of a woman who is facing the versions of herself, reliving memories and emotions from alternate realities," she said in an email to The FADER. Thompson-Hannant’s femininity comes through in her movement, smile, gaze. At one point in the video she’s covered in a gauzy, blush-colored fabric and submerged in a pool, transmitting a delicate tenderness. “I often shy away from an open femininity but I felt that ‘Angel’ asked for a softness and vulnerability that I hadn't expressed in other videos.”
Field Of Love is out in February on Arbutus Records, and you can pre-order it here.
