London Club Fabric Shuts Indefinitely Following Teenager Deaths
The club’s license has been suspended by the local council pending investigation.
An investigation into two deaths at London's Fabric has seen the club have its license to operate suspended. A license review is being held after two teenagers died at the club since June. The most recent death came earlier this month, August, and prompted the club to shut for two days while police investigated. However, Islington Council has now temporarily suspended the club's license and it must remain shut until they come to a decision over its future.
A spokesman from the Metropolitan Police, which BBC News reports requested the licence be suspended, said: “Officers felt the need to act due to concerns about the safety of those attending the club because of the supply of class A drugs in the venue and the recent deaths of two young men linked to the club.” Fabric has yet to issue a statement. The FADER has contacted the club for comment.
