Explore The Potential Of Your Body With Hooded Fang’s “Impressions” Video
A green screen flesh suit celebration.
For their "Impressions" video, Toronto band Hooded Fang have enlisted an assortment of different characters to show us the little things that makes their body theirs. They range from dance, martial arts, tattoos, eating a banana, or just being a good dog, but they all get an eerie flavor thanks to the song's pulse-pounding hearse rock. Over email, the band told us that the track, taken from their new album Venus On Edge, is inspired by the historical anxieties of immigration.
A little story/narrative on the arrival of a foreign life form and the reactions of the local people to this unexpected new entity. It's interesting to think about how, historically, different cultures of humans have treated new arrivals. Sometimes the newcomers are treated as Gods, sometimes as trade partners or friends. Other times they are met with revulsion and fear, or massive condescension and seen as inferior. I don't mean to make a mass statement about this, or to presume to know what has driven humans to react in these vastly different ways, but the situation is inevitable and deserves thought.
