Vetements To Go Haute Couture Come July
Demna continues to fuck with the fashion world’s head.
It's no secret that Vetements's unconventional approach to denim, appropriation of casual shipping logos, and high price points have turned the fashion world on its head, prompting think pieces and a general sense of unease. But though the dust from their last ready to wear show has settled, no one should get comfortable just yet, for the (slightly archaic) organization that distinguishes a couture show from RTW—the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture—has just invited Vetements into its fold. Perhaps the most streetwear-affiliated brand to ever show at couture, Vetements presentation in July will no doubt upend traditional notions of haute couture and just what fashion means in 2016. Maybe it's what Lorde has been waiting for.
