Nef The Pharaoh, Cardo, And Philthy Rich Serve Up Bay Area Lingo With “#Saydaat”
Drake’s using the slang, now you can too.
Young Vallejo legend-in-the-making Nef The Pharaoh hosts a lesson in Bay Area vernacular with "#Saydaat," a low-riding track produced by Cardo and featuring Philthy Rich. "Say daat" is an exclamation, Nef explained in an email to The FADER, "like when you're in church and the pastor says something and the people in the church say 'Amen.'" Or, as Nef uses in a bar: I touched 20 bands when I was 19 (say daat!) or you better treat your momma like the queen she is (say daat!). Drake's been known to drop an occasional say daat—hit play below and you can, too.
"#Saydaat" is the first single off an upcoming collaborative tape Nef is working on with Cardo, whom he also worked with on "Michael Jackson." "Me and Cardo's chemistry is real good, so I decided let's give the world a whole tape together," Nef said. That project, titled Neffy Got Wings, is coming soon.
