Watch DJ LAG’s Intense Gqom Boiler Room Set
36 dark, energetic minutes from the Durban producer.
As part of the latest edition of G-Star RAW X Boiler Room RAW Sessions in Johannesburg, South African producer DJ LAG stepped up to the decks to show exactly why everyone's going crazy for gqom right now. The minimal house genre born from the coastal city of Durban and mp3 sharing site Kasimp3 is dark, heated, and easy to lose yourself inside: as this 36-minute set proves. "I play tracks which can take you [into a] trance," LAG told The FADER via email. "I become the general and the crowd is my army changing the scene in the club to a state of a chaos, a good one. I go into the state of dreams.” Watch the full set above, and read more about gqom in Adam Harper's System Focus column on the South African genre.
