FADER Mix: Sweyn Jupiter

Let the Night Slugs producer and keyboardist soundtrack your cuffing season.

October 28, 2015

You may have heard the name Sweyn Jupiter from the keyboardist and producer's debut release on Night Slugs: the seductive collaborative single "Papaya Lipgloss" with label boss Bok Bok. More recently, he's been making a name for himself in London as one of the resident DJs of BBC AZN Network—that's a play on the distinctly less hip-hop-oriented BBC Asian Network—the rowdy monthly show on Radar Radio, producing some of the best mixes to be found on London's airwaves right now. In the meantime, he's appearing alongside Bok Bok at this weekend's Clock Strikes 13 party in east London, and he tells The FADER that news on a new release "soon come." Listen in to his FADER Mix for a ton of innuendo and raunchy edits, sparkling keys, an exclusive glimpse of an Ikonika and Jessy Lanza collab, and the unmistakable float of Kelela's vocal singing Sweyyyyyn Jayyyyy.

Tell us a bit about this mix. What do you imagine people doing while listening to it?

I was stargazing during the process of recording this mix and it represents my mental state at the time; I expect people to either dance or be in their feelings.

Dolma, with my hands and help from mumzi because she can wrap grapevine leaves on another level. I've replaced rice for quinoa and it's better than ever.

BBC AZN Network on Radar Radio is basically the most exciting thing on the radio right now. What were your favorite radio stations and shows growing up?

Damn, thank you 🙏 I used to listen to Logan Sama on Kiss late nights throughout my adolescence and also Jazz FM, haven't listened to much Armenian radio with the exception of Rabiz themed shows.
