Awful Records Released A Lot Of New Music This Week
Hear fresh material from Richposlim, Ethereal, and Father.
Atlanta’s Awful Records continues its prolific streak with a series of new releases. First, Ethereal put out a full-length through Bandcamp. Final Fantasy is 10 tracks, and it includes contributions from a slew of Awful personnel: Lord Narf, Alexandria, Stalin Majesty, and others. On his Bandcamp page, the rapper writes: “Final Fantasy by Ethereal for Ethereal by Ethereal in collaboration with Ethereal for Ethereal by Ethereal. Written and produced by Ethereal. Engineered, mixed and mastered by Ethereal.”
Next up: last night, RichPoSlim put out #THOTLIFE, a short four-track EP “strictly for the Macks hustlers hoes and harlots.” As per usual, most aspects of the release were handled by other Awful members: KCSB produced the project, and Luidiamonds mixed it. Interestingly, it was recorded in New York City.
Last but not least, Father put out the video for “Cheap Thrills.” The MC spends most of the video shrouded in shadow and dark blue lighting as he raps come-on after come-on. KCSB handles the production duties here as well. Watch that below, check out the clip FADER TV made with Awful Records, and read an abbreviated oral history of the label.
