Serena Williams is currently taking time out from tennis as she prepares for the birth of her first child. She has commemorated this time in her life by appearing on the cover of the latest issue of Vanity Fair.

Her interview with the magazine is a breakdown of her relationship with fiancé Alexis Ohanian, one of the co-founders of Reddit. It goes from their first meeting in 2015 through to the present day. Along the way Williams and Ohanian talk about their feelings for one another at different points in time, as well as the moment in January of this year when Serena discovered she was pregnant (“How am I going to play the Australian Open? I had planned on winning Wimbledon this year.”)

There's also an update on Williams's plan to return to competing on the women's circuit as soon as January 2018. “I don’t think my story is over yet," she says of her glittering career.

The cover shot, reminiscent of Demi Moore's 1991 Vanity Fair cover, was taken by Annie Leibovitz. Check out the full interview here.
