E-40 could probably teach a college course on entrepreneurship, but he'd much rather give you game in his raps. In his new video for "Somebody," which premieres on The FADER today, 40 is perched in the balcony of a theater, watching a highlight reel from his decades-long career, as he urges listeners to make something of themselves.

"The song is a homage to gospel singer Freddie Jackson's "Have You Ever Loved Somebody," E-40 told The FADER over email. "The boy Rico Barrino came up with the hook. In this song, I'm somebody trying to be somebody, not so much as a rapper, but as an ordinary guy. I'm talking about—should I buy a food truck, should I get in the tech world and create an app? Where am I going in life in life with this shit? I’m playing the narrator."
